Primevera Cynicality

Spring has sprung, I can tell
by all the part time farmers in the dell
riding lawnmowers back and forth
cursing sprinklers, heading north
to the garden center.

Spring has sprung, this I know
by all the walkers with their glow
of sunscreen heading up the hill
Til their podiatrist sends the bill
for harvesting their corns.

Spring has sprung, and it's such a sight
Shorts above those knees so white,
Tanktops framing reddened skin,
For those who forget the spf 30 again
back in the car.

Spring has sprung and sinus ache
for dust's and mold's and pollen's sake
For lilac. cherries. apples. oak
and ash and pine and rubbish smoke
do share the wealth.

Spring has sprung and summer's near,
And fan and cooler prepare, my dear,
For soon the heat will hit the street,
and you'll be sweating in your seat,
looking for shade.
