Evanescent

Storms are evanescent,
Fading from the scene,
ephemeral,
boiling up fast
in their winds and rain and rage,
but soon gone,
disapating,
departed.

Looking only at the sky,
we could be amazed that anything has happened.

But after the storm has passed,
and we see the results,
broken buildings,
broken hopes,
and broken lives,
we are left with the non-evanescent reality
that something that lasts days
can affect us for years.
